The Encuentro de Cantaoras de Bomba is not simply a stage.
It is an act of resistance and living memory.
It’s where ancestors are felt.
Where the Afro-descendant legacy is celebrated with pride—face forward, with a strong voice and maraca in hand.
From ENMIPATIOPR, we deeply celebrate this initiative led by Professor Maribella Burgos and supported by the leadership of Mayor Julia Nazario Fuentes of Loíza.
This Encuentro reaffirms what we have always known:
Bomba is more than music—it’s identity, it’s struggle, and it’s community.
And as long as there are cantaoras, there will be hope.
