Alongside a distinguished career in respiratory health—serving as President of the Puerto Rico Respiratory Care Association and asthma instructor at the Medical Sciences Campus—Sheila is also a graduate of the Puerto Rico Business Development Center’s Entrepreneurial Training Program. This foundation has empowered her as a leader both in clinical settings and cultural spaces.
“My dance is a bridge between our Afro-Puerto Rican legacy and the world. Through bomba, I celebrate our ancestry and cultivate cultural pride in every person I reach.”
Sheila is deeply committed to cultural stewardship. Through Taller N’Zambi, she teaches bomba as a living tradition, transmitting history and identity to future generations. Her work spans community outreach, public health education, and youth mentorship through arts and culture.
